The DeMatha Leadership Institute

“The DeMatha Leadership Institute gets to the heart of the mission of the school. In all aspects of school life we expect students to be servant leaders and responsible followers; to become men who accept and embrace the responsibility of leadership. Those who attend the Institute jump-start the process and become leaders in their school communities.”
– Dr. McMahon, Principal
DeMatha Leadership Institute – Summer of 2026
Part of educating our students to become Gentlemen and Scholars is expressed in our Mission Statement:
“…to serve students of differing abilities, interests and back-grounds from the culturally rich and diverse greater Washington Metropolitan area.”
To prepare these young men for success in the future is to provide them with opportunities in and out of the class-room that they would otherwise not experience.
What is the DeMatha Leadership Institute (DMLI)?
DMLI is a four-day leadership program for rising juniors – class of 2028. Young men develop leadership skills while gaining exposure to different leadership styles by listening to guest speakers, participating in challenging group activities, and planning and working on Christian Service projects.
DMLI provides exposure to and instruction in specific leadership skills, team building and interaction with successful graduates.
Leadership styles are developed and refined through exposure to different leaders and their experiences.
