October 12th Mandatory Standardized Testing Day for Freshman: All freshmen will be taking the NWEA: the 4 areas being tested will be science, math, language and reading comprehension. This test will be used as an indicator of Academic Growth. Students will be given more instructions in their Science classes in the coming weeks. This is a required test for all Freshmen. There is no make-up date if your student is absent.
October 12th - PSAT for Sophomores and Juniors. This is a mandatory testing day. Sophomores and Juniors should arrive at 8:15 and go to the room they have been assigned for testing. Room assignments will be posted around the school. The PSAT is a College Board test designed as a practice test for the SAT. The top scoring Juniors may be eligible for National Merit Scholarships. The PSAT measures Writing/Language, Reading, and Math. One Math section allows the use of a calculator and one does not. The College Board states that 'All questions can be solved without a calculator, but a scientific or graphing calculator is recommended for the portion of the math test on which a calculator is permitted'. Students should bring their own calculators. Calculators will not be provided by the school. Students will not be able to use their phones or computers as a calculator.
