At yesterday's Lenten Service, a few students were asked to give brief reflections to the student body. One of those students was senior Julius McCullough. Here is what Julius said:
"Over this past summer, I went in the hospital to have my wisdom teeth, and a couple other teeth, removed. But after the procedure, I went into cardiac arrest. I was on a ventilator and I was in a coma (for a time). During this period, the doctor told my mom that I only had a 12 percent chance of living. Fr. James and Mr. Twigg both came to the hospital to pray for me and to comfort my family. Mr. Twigg gave me a rosary, and, while I was in the ICU, I would pray the rosary multiple times a day. My entire family, friends, and the DeMatha community prayed for my recovery and that God would deliver me out of this dark time. I remember seeing my grandad who had been deceased for two years and I was talking to him. My sister told me that my dad was about to go ahead and make funeral arrangements because it looked as if I wasn't going to make it. But God delivered me. This whole ordeal strengthened my prayer life and my faith in God. If God can deliver me from this dark time in my life, He can do the same for you, no matter the circumstances." ------------------------- We wish Julius well. Note: We edited his remarks slightly as they were written for his speech and not this forum.
