|1st DeMatha Career Fair:|
The DeMatha Alumni Association will host its 1st Career Fair on Fri., Jan. 5 from 6-8pm in the LT (SEAL) Brendan Looney '99 Convocation Center. DeMatha graduates currently in their junior and senior years of college looking for internships and full-time employment and younger post-graduate alums looking for a job change and/or advancement are encouraged to attend at no fee. Please bring your resumes and dress will be business attire (Required). This will be an ideal situation where you can begin to hone your interview skills and interact with potential employers.
All employers who would like the opportunity to discuss their job opportunities and recruit our bright, motivated younger DeMatha graduates will have a table set up for their use. We ask each employer to contribute $100 to be a part of this new initiative. Space will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis and we are also looking to provide varied career options to our graduates.
Employers in the public sector field (law enforcement, teaching, fire, etc.), non-profit sector and private sector (law, accounting, architecture, banking, investment, journalism, etc.) are all welcome. This is a great opportunity to share information about your organization and the positions you have available, and build your brand.
It should be a great night and we hope you will wish to participate. Any employer able to hire, or are hiring at this time, and are interested in participating should email Teresa Farrell at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any young alums interested in attending should also RSVP to email@example.com. Please indicate your graduation year.

It seems as if weekly we receive a picture from an alum on his wedding day surrounded by several of his former classmates. These pictures make their way onto our social media sites and sometimes in our school magazine. But DeMatha grads also show up at funerals. Case in point yesterday, Mr. William Hibbs, father of Tom '78 and Mike '80, was buried over on Maryland's eastern shore. There were at least 15 alums present. The celebrant was Monsignor Bill Parent, the brother of James '00. Mr. Hibbs was buried in his DeMatha shirt. May he rest in peace.
While we are presently in this "One DeMatha, One Christmas" Campaign, we did have a number of people also contribute on "Giving Tuesday." We appreciate that very much.
On that day, we received a donation from an alum (who shall remain nameless) who wrote the following in the comments section:
"I appreciate my connection to DeMatha more and more with each passing year. Not only because of my time as a student, but especially in the years since. The faculty at DeMatha did not stop supporting me and checking up on me when I graduated. It is difficult not to get
emotional when I think about all that DeMatha has meant to me and my family. My closest friends and I all had dramatically different experiences at DeMatha academically. Some were honors students earning college credits by their senior year, I struggled at times just to make it through. What makes DeMatha so special is that DeMatha was, and is, equally valuable to all of us."
