Sports Medicine
The athletic trainers (ATs) at DeMatha are available for:
-
Management of general illnesses and medical disorders
-
Evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation of orthopedic injuries (sport related or not)
-
Diagnosis and treatment of concussions
The athletic trainers are available throughout the school day for students to see for injuries or illnesses, providing treatments that include various modalities and taping/bracing techniques. An AT is present at most on-campus and athletic events to provide immediate medical services, including first aid and emergency care. In addition, Ms. Norris and Ms. Reading teach courses in sports medicine and weight lifting/nutrition.
