Big Brothers

Mission Statement

Big Brothers of DeMatha provide direction, leadership, and guidance to freshmen students through a presence in the homerooms and at faculty mentor meetings.  Big Brothers assist in the new students’ introduction to the DeMatha community by answering questions, alleviating anxieties and setting an example as gentlemen and scholars.  Big Brothers display their leadership and show a sincere commitment to the welfare of the DeMatha community through their service and their support of various school sponsored activities, including the Food Drive, the Toy Drive, the Lenten Drive, the Walk for Mary House, Open House, Orientation Days, Retreat Days and athletic events.  Big Brothers make themselves available when called upon and strengthen the foundation of the DeMatha community by being men of honor and integrity.

Requirements for membership

  • Act as student leaders in assigned homerooms  
  • Participate in Freshman Orientation and Retreat
  • Participate in at least one Big Brother sponsored or supported service activity per semester (Food Drive, Book Drive, Lenten Drive etc.) while encouraging your homerooms and mentor’s students to do so as well.
  • Remain a student in good standing, both academically and behaviorally, inside and outside the school.
  • Set a positive example of leadership and show a sincere commitment to the welfare of the community especially through your service.
  • Be attentive to the communications and announcements made by the organization through e-mail or the daily bulletin and respond in a timely manner.
