Spirit Week – Tag Day

Daily Mass will be celebrated during the interim period 10:30 a.m. in the chapel. All are welcome to spend some time in prayer every day.

Friday, September 22, Religious Liberty Prayer Service: We will follow an Assembly Day schedule. No homeroom or interim.

The Stag Store will be closing at 12:00noon on Friday, September 22.

Vision & Hearing Testing will take place on Monday & Tuesday, September 25 & 26 for freshmen and transfer students during their DeMatha Way class. Classes will go to the film room in the Convocation Center.

Freshmen Volunteers/Crab Feast: Looking for Freshmen volunteers to help out at the Crab Feast, Saturday, September 30. You will earn service hours. If interested, see Mr. Rogers.

Walk-a-Thon support for Hurricane Relief: DeMatha's annual Walk-a-Thon is upon us! This year, we will raise money and walk to help victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. We will collect money or gift cards during homeroom for families who have been affected. On October 5th, we will walk around Hyattsville in solidarity with those who have suffered in the destruction. Students are encouraged to give up one comfort in order to donate money; gift cards to Amazon, Kohls, and Wal-Mart are also welcome. We will collect from Monday, 9/25-Friday, 10/6. This is a school-wide House competition and a great chance to earn House points!

Flu ClinicMedStar Visiting Nurse Association will be here at DeMatha on Wednesday, October 4th 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Pre-register by calling 240-764-2200 or stop by the main office by Friday September 29th. Under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Price information will be posted in the near future.

Hurricane Donations: Let’s show our school spirit this week through an act of service by raising funds for Hurricane victims! Students collecting money will be located in the cafeteria during all lunch periods.

Homecoming Dance: Saturday, September 23 from 7:30 to 11:00 PM in the old gym. Cost – couple ticket $50, single ticket $30. For sale in the main office (cash or check made payable to DeMatha Catholic High School) until 3:00 p.m. each day. Check the dress code on the back of the ticket. Student ID required. House points awarded for highest house members attending dance.

City of Hyattsville Arts Festival needs students to work setting up and breaking down on Saturday, September 23. Please see Mr. Holsey to sign up for your shift. Freshmen and seniors are needed.

Elizabeth Seton Fall Production Auditions to be held at Seton Monday & Tuesday, September 25 & 26 from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm. Actors are expected to have a 90 second monologue prepared for auditions. If there are any questions please contact Ms. Jodie Johnson at or 301-864-4532 extension 7307.

Student ID’s: ALL students should pick up a reprinted/corrected student ID form their counselor.

The first after school SAT prep class started Monday, September 11th at 3:00. Reading Prep will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays and Math Prep will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The class will meet in preparation for the October SAT test. It will meet on the third floor of St John de Matha Hall at 3:00 and go until 4:00. See Mrs. McKee in the Counseling Center for applications or Mr. Smith or Mr. Hurst if you have questions about the class.
