Track and Field Wins WCAC Championship

DeMatha's Track and Field team, under first year head coach Leon Snyder, pulled ahead to win the WCAC Track and Field Championship in Olney on May 19th.

DeMatha Catholic picked up their first Track and Field Championship since 2009. Here are the individual event results:


In the field events:

High Jump

Maurice Holmes (Gonzaga) won the event with a score of 6-02. Brandon Fitzgerald and Cameron Phillips (both from DeMatha) finished second and third.

Long Jump

Chris King of DeMatha won the event with a jump of 22-02.25. Ayron Monroe (St. John’s) and Kevin Moore (Good Counsel) finished second and third.

Triple Jump

John-Richard Bryant of Bishop McNamara won the event with a jump of 44-04. Kyle Martin (Good Counsel) and BJ Townley (Bishop Ireton) finished second and third.

Shotput

DeMatha’s Michael Moore won the event with a toss of 45-06.5. Richard Burnett (McNamara) and Julian Nelson (Carroll) finished second and third.

Discus

Bobby Mitchell from Good Counsel won the event with a throw of 108-11. Ben Onett (St. John’s) and Jonathan Smith-Holmes (DeMatha) finished second and third.

In the track events:

100 Meter Dash

Rajee Dunbar (Gonzaga) won the event with a time of 10.92. McNamara’s David Stone and Zach Quarles (St. John’s) finished second and third.

200 Meter Dash

Chris King (DeMatha) won his second event of the day with a time of 22.22. Rajee Dunbar (Gonzaga) and Zach Quarles (St. John’s) finished second and third.

400 Meter Dash

Rajee Dunbar (Gonzaga) won his second event of the day with a time of 48.75. McNamara’s David Stone and Shamir Dozier finished second and third.

800 Meter Run

Keith Holleran (O’Connell) won the event with a time of 1:58:51. Mike Crozier (Gonzaga) and Justin Atkins finished second and third.

1600 Meter Run

Mike Crozier (Gonzaga) won the event with a time of 4:18:55. Good Counsel’s Collin Crilly and Jack Riely finished second and third.

3200 Meter Run

Mike Crozier (Gonzaga) won his second event of the day with a time of 9:28:71. Good Counsel’s Collin Crilly and Jack Riely again finished second and third.

110 Meter Hurdles

Kyle Martin (Good Counsel) won the event with a time of 14:23. Ayron Monroe (St. John’s) and John-Richard Bryant (McNamara) finished second and third.

300 Meter Hurdles

Kyle Martin (Good Counsel) won his second event of the day with a time of 38.76. John-Richard Bryant (McNamara) and BJ Townley (Bishop Ireton) finished second and third.

4x100 Meter Relay

DeMatha Catholic won the team event with a time of 43.04. St. John’s finished second while Gonzaga finished third.

4x200 Meter Relay

St. John’s won the team event with a time of 1:30:23. Gonzaga finished second and DeMatha finished third.

4x400 Meter Relay

Dematha won its second relay event of the day with a time of 3:25:65. Bishop McNamara and Paul VI finished second and third.

4x800 Meter Relay

Bishop O’Connell with a time of 8:11:77 won the event, DeMatha and Gonzaga finished second and third.
