    School News


    • Junior Parent Coffee

      Junior Parent Coffee will be held in the Kilby Alumni Lounge located in the Convocation Center from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Thursday, September 2nd.
    • Freshmen Parents Back-to-School Night

      Freshmen Parents Back-to-School Night will be held Thursday, September 2nd for parents only (students should NOT attend). The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the new Convocation gymnasium. Please bring a copy of your son’s schedule.
    • Early Dismissal

      Friday September 3rd will be a 12:50 early dismissal.
    • After School Waiting Room

      The After School Waiting Room will be held in the (old) Wootten Gymnasium from 3:00 PM until 5:15 PM for the remainder of the week with the exception of Friday 9/3. School and offices will close at 1:30 PM
    • Fall Baseball

      There will be a Fall Ball meeting on Friday, September 3 at 1:00 PM in the lobby of the Convocation Center.
    • Labor Day

      School and offices will be closed on Monday, September 6th
    • University of the Arts

      The University of the Arts, from Philadelphia, will visit DeMatha on Friday, September 24th in the film room located in the Convocation Center at 10:30 a.m. Please sign up with Mr. Holsey to get a release from class for the meeting.
    • Alter Servers

      Any student who would be available to do alter service during school liturgies, please see Mrs. Penndorf in the Campus Ministry Office.
    • Class Room Changes

      Dr. McMahon’s World Literature and Honors World Literature will be held in room 7302. Mr. Turk’s 9th grade Study Hall during period 4/5 will be held in room 308. These are permanent changes.
    • Swimming & Diving Candidates

      All those interested in swimming and diving for DeMatha should meet on Friday, September 3rd immediately after school in room 7306. See Mr. Krawczewicz if you have any questions.
    • Senior Lockers

      Seniors who would like lockers are to see Mr. MacAuley in the Attendance Office.
    • Convocation Center Lockers

      Football, Soccer and Cross Country Varsity and JV players who would like lockers in the Convocation Center need to see Mr. King or Mrs. Bertram for locker assignments.
    • BSU

      First BSU meeting for returning members only on Tuesday 9/7 in room 304 at 3:00 p.m.
    • Art Club

      First Art Club meeting after school in room 400 on Monday 9/13. Please see Mr. Holsey if you cannot make the meeting. Art Club is open to all students.
    • Cross Country

      Are you still looking be part of an athletic team? The Cross Country team has openings for a few dedicated, gutsy, and team-oriented athletes. If the challenge of Cross Country appeals to you, please email Coach Mike at CoachMikePuffett@gmail.com.

    • Towson University Science and Math Scholarships

      Towson University offers a Jess Fisher FCSM or Jess Fisher Pre-Engineering Scholarship for entering freshman which covers full in-state tuition and fees for the academic year; renewable for up to four years. For information visit the website.
    • U.S. Naval Academy Admissions Forum

      On Saturday, September 4, 2010, the U.S. Naval Academy will hold an admissions forum for students and their families. U.S. Naval Academy officials, alumni and midshipman will present valuable information and answer questions on the admissions process. The forum will run from 9:00am – 12:00pm, check-in begins at 8:30am. To register, go to cgoevent@usna.edu. Be sure to fill in first and last name, number of people attending and make sure the subject line reads “Annapolis Admissions Forum”. An e-mail confirmation will be sent within three business days of registration. Each student who registers will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to Navy’s first football game of the season to be played on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010.

    • Service Opportunities

      For more information on upcoming service events, or service in general, visit the DeMatha service website: www.dematha.org select the tab "Student Life" then choose "Christian Service Program" from the dropdown menu. Other opportunities will be sent out in parent alerts, bulletins and afternoon announcements and will be posted outside of the CMO!
    • Religious Ed teachers

      Religious Ed teachers needed at St. Joseph Church in Beltsville, MD (near IKEA). Classes are Wednesday evenings from 6:45pm - 8:15pm from September through May. If interested, contact Mrs. Monica Keith, DRE at (301) 937-7183 or mkeith@stjos.org (first 10 hours are contact hours, then the remaining hours are non-contact)
    • Juniors and Seniors

      Look for upcoming sign-ups for the DC-Baltimore Urban Plunge, which will be October 21st - 24th. Sign-ups will begin September 8th and last through October 6th. For more information see the service calendar on the service website. Also look for sign-ups in September for the University of Maryland's and P.G. County Community College's Children's Developmental Clinics (CDC). These programs have students work with children with developmental disabilities every Saturday morning for a total of 40 hours.
