Athletics

DeMatha offers a variety of athletic camps and programs for students during the summer. Faculty members and coaches associated with DeMatha athletic teams sponsor summer programs for baseball, conditioning, hockey, basketball, soccer and lacrosse. Information for the Summer of 2016 will be available as program details are confirmed.

Basketball 2017

DeMatha Basketball Camp is designed to give boys and GIRLS, ages 7 to 16, the opportunity to learn FUNdamentals of the game. Our facility is open daily from 8:15 to 5:30, with camp starting at 9:15 and ending at 4:00.

Football 2017

DEMATHA FOOTBALL CAMP

This camp gives young football players an opportunity to learn techniques and fundamentals from the DeMatha coaching staff! Working on drills with DeMatha players, listening to special guest speakers, and earning prizes through competition are just a few things that make this camp one you don’t want to miss!

Dates: Session 1: July 10-14

Session 2: July 17-21

(9am-3pm, before and after care offered 8am until 6pm, additional $30 per day)

Location: DeMatha Catholic High School (Campers walk to Hyattsville Middle School for field events)
Eligibility: Varsity Stag Camp (6th-8th grade) & Junior Stag Camp (3rd-5th grade)
Fee: $200 per player (pre-registration), $225 per player (walk-up registration)

What to Bring:

All campers should come dressed in comfortable athletic wear and tennis or
basketball shoes. Cleats are only to be worn when on the field. Campers are responsible for their own belongings. The camp is not responsible for missing cell phones, iPods, athletic equipment or other camper belongings.

The DeMatha Soccer Youth Camp is designed to help young players develop their soccer skills in a fun and exciting environment. The camp will run M-F 9-3pm and will include individualized skill instruction and small sided games with current and former DeMatha soccer players and staff.

DeMatha Soccer Elite GK Camp

High School Prep Camp. Boys. Rising 10th-12th Graders
This week is designed to help prepare the players for the start of the DeMatha High School season. The camp will focus on techinical work, fitness, and tactical topics. Additionally, players will participate in video and team building sessions. The primary purpose of this camp is to get all players an understanding of the expectations, demands, and culture of DeMatha soccer. All returning players interested in playing high school soccer in the fall are highly encouraged to attend.

Lacrosse 2017

DeMatha Lacrosse will once again host a 3 day summer evening camp, lead by Head Coach Scott Morrison. Former DeMatha players, current college players and fellow coaches lead the players through skill sessions, 1 on 1 instructions for all positions and level of players, as well as scrimmages. The mission is to improve each player's game, skills, fundamentals and to have FUN! Skills covered include:

Fundamentals - Catching, throwing, ground balls
Offense - Shooting, Dodging, team offense, riding
Defense - 1 on 1, Checks, Team defense, sliding, clearing
Specialties - Goalies, Face-Off, LSM

Dates: July 18-20 (6pm-8pm)
Location: Allen Pond Turf Field 3330 Northview Drive, Bowie, MD
Eligibility: Ages 6-14
Fee: $125

Crew 2017

Andrew Bright, Director

The DeMatha summer crew camp was established to provide a fun and unique environment where boys can learn how to row. No prior rowing experience is necessary. The camp will accept boys entering 9th grade in the fall of 2017, as well as rising 10th grade students from DeMatha. The main focus of the camp is to learn the technical aspects of rowing in a fun and positive atmosphere. With a rower-to-coach ratio of 10:1, coaches will provide both individual and team instruction.

Dates: July 31st-August 4th, 2017

Cost: $350 (If payment is received by June 16th, the cost is ONLY $300. If payment is received between June 16th and July 11th, the cost is $350.)
